The artist specialized in animals from the very beginning. In 1901 he showed the Lioness in the Berlin Secession, the work with which he suddenly became famous. The large bronze stood until after World War II in the garden of the Wannsee villa of the great art collector Eduard Arnhold (today in the museum in Großauheim/Hanau).
