Antique globes, variable dimensions

Seven antique globes should turn on their own axis on their own without visible mechanisms. The spheres were separated at the equator with great care and an engine developed over weeks of work was places inside. After re-attaching the two halves of the earth, practically nothing of the intervention is visible, and the globe turns itself uninterrupted for ten days as if animated by a magical hand. The globe can be turned on and off by means of slight tilting motion thanks to a tilt switch. The globe is charged using two clamps attached to the axis of the earth and/or to the metal housing. The seven globes were shown for the first time at the group exhibition “Zwischen den Welten” (Between the Worlds) in the Kunstmuseum Thun.
