Chromium-nickel steel, 2000 × 200 cm

For the Stadtspital Waid, Bob Gramsma designed a work for the grounds. At a location in the park where a small forest grove obstructs the wonderful view of Zurich and the lake, he installed an approximately 20 × 2 meter large plate of chromium-nickel steel on a sloping bit of meadow. The polished metal reflects the sky and the surrounding vegetation like a brook.

The course of the metal path in the meadow was simulated using offset printing plates. Bob Gramsma had originally planned a surface that would curve upwards; after attempts with the model, he decided on flat chromium-nickel plates. Three strips of chromium-nickel steel sheet metal were installed next to each other and polished.
