In his art, Subodh Gupta draws on consumer goods from everyday life. The artist stages the stainless steel tableware typical for India as a huge sculpture, which in its monumentality, is at odds with the simplicity of the original objects. His photographs, videos and installations often have a strong connection to his home Bihar, where he grew up in simple surroundings.
